Palazzo Salato

After the successful fitout of Fabbrica for Love Tilly Group, Urban Core was invited to deliver a bar and restaurant fitout on the heritage-listed, 201 Clarence Street. The biggest challenge was obtaining the Construction Certificate (CC). The architect had specified wall-mounted feature lights, however the certifier had stipulated that no chasing was allowed in the heritage walls. The architect and client did not want surface-mounted conduit which would comprise the look and feel of the restaurant. Urban Core engaged a second heritage architect who discovered that the render on the brick walls was 40mm thick. The certifying heritage architect agreed that chasing was permitted if it only affected the render and did not impact the brickwork behind the render.
