The Nielsen

In July 2022, Urban Core were invited to deliver the refurbishment of The Nielsen in Vaucluse. Nielsen Park is a heritage listed historic site, park and nature reserve located at Greycliffe Avenue, Vaucluse. Its main kiosk and ancillary buildings are dated from 1914. The works included the refurbishment of Nielsen Park Kiosk, Halbert Pavilion and Shark Beach Kiosk. The biggest challenge of the project is that the buildings are heritage listed. All new works needed to be sympathetic to the buildings’ heritage fabric and design. Urban Core used trade contractors with extensive experience in retrofitting slabs in existing buildings. This required understanding the tolerances and precision to ensure there was no impact on the existing structure.
